August 28th and a Flea Market in Florence?

Today, Whytney is in Florence....and only 10 days left!  Tomorrow will be single digits.  So hard to believe.

In Florence, Whytney could enjoy Tuscan Cuisine, see beautiful countrysides or go to the Flea Market.  What, did I really say Flea Market?  Yep!  Not only in Kentucky can you bask in other people's junk; but in Italy as well have they discovered that one man's junk is another's treasure!

The local flea market is Mercato Delle "Pulci".  Quite a famous one to speak of, located in the Piazza dei Ciompi and is open daily from 9 a. m. to 7:30 p. m.  The best day to go is the last Sunday of each month.  On these dates, you can find the vendors have extended booths out to surrounding streets.  Kind of like a neighborhood Yard Sale.  The treasures range from furniture to art; to knick knacks to old dusty books.  What a wonderful way to experience the people and culture, by sifting through "junk"!

Other markets are evident throughout town ranging from goods such as foods, art, clothing, etc.  Open air markets are a popular way of life in Florence.

I hope that Whytney has had an opportunity to experience at least some of these markets.  It is so rare to have those here (other than Flea Markets).  Hopefully, in doing so she was able to have a true picture of the Florence culture first hand and meet some native Tuscans?

Until day 9...LUM&L
