Nice time in Nice, France

I heard that it was a great day for Whytney today in Nice, France.  Into the third to last cruise, Whytney made her first port day in Nice.  I believe that she was able to spend some time in Nice today because of some pictures that she has posted on fb.  However, I have only been able to access fb on my phone - been at work all day and no fb time YET!   If she did get to go to Nice today, she quite possibly could have experienced some exciting attractions.

Place Massena is one of Nice's main squares. This plaza is home to Galleries Lafayette and eventually will have a tram system set up for its visitors.  You will find this attractive square at the southern end of  Avenue Jean Medecin, a major artery in the city.

She might spend some time walking along the French Riviera if it is a nice sunny day.  I am sure that she would enjoy this.  Maybe grab some ice cream and take a leisurely stroll.

Better yet, she could bask in Nice's lovely Mediterranean architecture and sculptures. One such sculpures is entitled La Tête au Carré de Sosno. Located across the road from the Acropolis Convention Centre it is a gigantic sight to behold!

How nice would it be able to take a train from Nice to Barcelona, Marseille, Avignon, Paris, Munich, Milan and other European cities. She could board a train at this magnificant station for any of these romantic destinations.  I am sure she would be all over that if USA were on that list.

Finally, overlooking Nice is The Colline du Chateau (Castle Hill).  She could enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of Nice France and the French Riviera from this perch. Located near the Mediterranean sea between the old town and the Port of Nice, she might be able to view this from the deck of the ship?  There is also an old fort is situated on the hilltop.

Regardless of her experiences in Nice today, one thing that I am sure of is that it was a good day for her.  For a Mom to know that is to be at peace.  I hope and pray that tomorrow in Florence, Italy, she will have the same or better kind of day.

34 more days, 34 more nights, 34 more corny posts...
