Rome again...

21 days to go in a nine month contract and the excitement builds as we approach the single digits!  I can see the light at the end of the tunnel - I hope that Whytney can as well.

Whytney is in Rome, Italy today and come to find out; several famous people are from Rome.  Some that I found to be quite interesting include:

Julius Caesar (July 12, 100 BC - March 15, 44 BC).  Caesar was a Roman military and political leader.  He was ultimately assassinated on the Ides of March.

The Emperor Augustus  (born with the name Gaius Octavius) . He took the name Gaius Julius Caesar Octavianus (Octavian) in 44 B.C. after the murder of his great uncle, Julius Caesar. Caesar adopted Octavian in his will and made him his heir.

Augustus actually became a great leader by restoring peace to Rome after 100 years of civil war.  He managed an honest government and created a secure currency system.  He constructed a highway system with many bridges, aqueducts, and built numerous museums.

Finally the great actress Sophia Loren, born in Rome in 1934.  She starred in many famous movies co-starring with greats such as Cary Grant and Frank Sinatra.  She also was a singer and recorded many albums.

Even though Whytney will not be seeing these three walking the streets of Rome, she may see some of their past endeavours while there.  Who knows, she may even run in to some future greats from Rome?

I hope that she has a splendid day in Rome and looks forward to her adventures in Sicily tomorrow.
