Whytney is at work in Athens

16 more days until I see Whytney.  Still on her journey, she ports in Athens, Greece today.  It is a work day for Whytney today and doubtful if she will be able to get off of the ship.

Here at home, the plans are being made for her arrival.  Nine months have passed. It seems like so long, yet the time has gone so fast.  I know that sounds odd - I guess that we get busy with the day to day and time passes.  I know that it probably seems like an eternity for Whytney; I think she has had some great adventures in that time.

Whytney's bedroom is all set up in the basement with her furniture.  The bed is the only thing that is yet to be set up.  Next weekend that will be on the agenda.  Her bathroom is all cleaned out - ready for all of her cosmetics and hair gear.  A shower that, I am sure, is at least four times the size of the one she has been subjected to for nine months.  She might even get lost in it.  Her walk in closet is empty and ready for all of her clothes (some of which she has not seen for a long time).  It will probably take her weeks to go through the boxes in the basement filled with her stuff.  It will seem like Christmas!

Back to Greece; Athens to be exact.  Even though Whytney will probably not be going out in town - I do want to share some interesting information that I found.  Because I just had a sloppy American slaw burger - I guess that I have hamburger on the brain.  Athens has their own version - the Souvlaki.  Originally popular with the Greeks, then the Western hamburger took over.  When a past recession hit, the hamburger took a nose dive and the Souvlaki was back in business. Now, Greece is the only country where McDonald's actually LOSES $$$!  Go figure, take that Big Mac!

This Greek "hamburger" consists of "meat" (pork, lamb, etc.) and cooked on a rotisserie type grill.  When done, it is put in a round pita bread and topped with lettuce, tomato, onions and sadziki.  Sadziki is a cucumber yogurt garlic sauce that finishes the souvlaki off!  Yum! Sounds tasty!

Maybe Whytney will be able to run off the ship and grab one of these.  It is fast food!

16 days and counting down each one...
